I think it's worth to try, but make DB backup.
I tested a bit (e.g 1.1.4-SNAPHOT to 1.2.0) against an existing DB .. was
ok. No guarantees ;-)

another thing is:
export your installations from old
(re)create push-app/variants and import devices
