Luca has been very patient in exhausting lots of possibilities! He and I think this is the best mix of simplicity/compatibility to work on all app servers. The JSF 2.2 bug we need fixed is here: http://java.net/jira/browse/JAVASERVERFACES_SPEC_PUBLIC-763. This would make the code a *lot* nicer.
