Patrice Lamarque commented on GTNPORTAL-1060:
---------------------------------------------

Think of hostname and containers portability.

Here instead of : http://localhost:8080/rest/jcr/repository/portal-system/production/app:gadgets/app:statusUpdate2/app:data/app:resources/activities2.xml

I may want to reference a gadget that is :
* on a different hostname
* on an extended portal (with different rest context)

ex: http://myhostname/rest-myportal/jcr/repository/portal-system/production/app:gadgets/app:statusUpdate2/app:data/app:resources/activities2.xml

I don't think URLs are the good way to solve that case. Perhaps we need alternative ways to configure gadgets.

>
> please provide a edit mode for the gadget wrapper portlet.
> Currently it accepts a "url" portlet preference where the gadget url needs to be hardcoded.
> This cannot work in a portable manner.
> A minimum one should be offered a way to change the url by UI (portlet edit mode) or (better) offer an alternative to URLs to target local container gadgets
