The portal page can get incorrectly rendered if going from a page directly to the http://localhost:8080/portal.

Steps to reproduce
- login in as root
- site editor-> add new page (don't actually create a page, just go to this page)
- goto http://localhost:8080/portal in the same browser window

The page will now be all messed up and will require the user to close the browser before it will go back to normal
