In Edit mode of a portlet, I create a RenderURL and setPortletMode back to View mode like following :

      PortletURL renderURL = res.createRenderURL();
      renderURL.setPortletMode(PortletMode.VIEW);
      w.write("Click <a href=\"" + renderURL.toString() + "\">here</a> to switch to VIEW mode");

Unfortunately it does not return to View mode after i click on the link.
