If you set in the server.xml the connector URIEncoding to UTF-8 then this will work properly (on JBoss this is located at server/default/deploy/jbossweb.sar/server.xml, on Tomcat its located at conf/server.xml). The tomcat docs for this is at http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/config/http.html

I don't know if we can specify this behaviour in the GateIn code or not, we may want to just update those settings in the bundles we create. It looks like there may be a limitation to how to specify the encoding for a query string
