I am attaching patch for in file sendMailAfterRegistrationPatch.txt for "Send email after registration of new user". This functionality is going to be disabled by default and can be enabled in gatein.ear/02portal.war/WEB-INF/admin/admin-configuration.xml where is configuration of PostRegistrationService, where can be also configured other things (Mail format etc.)

Other needed thing is SMTP configuration in server/default/conf/gatein/configuration.properties which needs to be correctly configured for sending mails from portal.

Some more info is on wiki page http://community.jboss.org/wiki/Sendingemailtoportaladministratorwhennewuserisregistered (But there are differences because wiki page is describing registration extension as completely independent plugin).
