1) for gatein-wsse-producer.xml, we tried with absolute path in format "/home/mvanco/..."
For gatein-wsse-consumer.xml it was possible to place files at other place than gatein-wsrp-integration.ear/META-INF and locate with above format.

2) yes, it's a bit confusing. I expected that these files are read only in case I require ws-security by checking ws-security checkbox on consumer.
