Hi,
Why are we fighting encoding in 2015? Mainframes had these things solved in 1963. Resource identifier and resource separator are different things and JAX-RS has no issues with encoded URLs, it will automatically parse them and decode.

Not sure I understand this.
The 2nd sentence says that the proposal of the 1st sentence
is frustrating.
And take the / as an example - if you don't encode it, then
the Jax-rs mechanisms for
GET /bla/{id}/foo
will not work if id has a literal / in it. => you need to make
it url-safe.
