I guess that you came to here because of GSoC?

If JBoss is accepted, students can submit proposals.
(possible) Mentors will judge the proposals and Jboss
will request a number of slots from Google.
We have a list of proposals here:

Google then assigns slots to orgs and the top proposals
of an org get a slot
There may be many more projects on the idea page
than what we get proposals or even slots for.
