To the best of my knowledge, that functionality is not used. Tagging metrics on the other hand is used. I created <a href="https://issues.jboss.org/browse/HWKMETRICS-247" class="">https://issues.jboss.org/browse/HWKMETRICS-247</a> to address removing the relevant code and making the necessary schema changes.
