I guess we could just import the code from svn as is under the Hibernate umbrella. 
>From there Adriano could fork it and do whatever he has to do and create pull request as usual.

I think I prefer this approach. The disadvantage could be that the migration never get fully completed.
In the worst case we could of course just drop the git repo again.
