Ditto.

Kabir setup a wiki to capture some of the suggestions floating around the core:

http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=MakingSubversionMorePerformantOnWindows

I've linked it into the faq.

That's what I do myself as well. I've always checked out stuff with either WinCVS or TortoiseSVN and them import from Eclipse. Seems to be work.

I never checkout big multi projects from with in eclipse (or any IDE for
that matter ;)

for eclipse I simply checkout the complete project (or projects) into its
"natural"
structure as delivered by cvs or svn commandline/tortoise.

Then in my IDE I go and tell it to create a project or use the project
info found at those locations.

I eclipse if the .project etc. files are already there it is just a matter
of choosing
"File/Import/Existing projects into workspace" and then point it to the
root directory
of where all the projects are and eclipse will find them all for you and
then press ok.
