I've committed a initial workaround for this. So you should be able to see Started, Stopped, Failed deployments. Additionally stopped deployments should be still visible over the managementView JBAS-6708.
You would need to update to jboss-man-2.1.0.CR7. Then you can get the current state with ManagedDeployment.getDeploymentState();
