Charles Crouch commented on JBAS-6720:
--------------------------------------

So for CR1 we're just going to have people manually turn on the metric collection for JBM if they want stats for topics and queues:

(3:45:44 PM) ccrouch: do you the only way to enable counters on the ServerPeer is to add stuff to the xml deployment descriptor?
(3:47:23 PM) jgreene: ccrouch: right the only way to do this currently is to edit the message-service.xml descriptor
(3:47:36 PM) jgreene: ccrouch: or make a JMX invocation on ServerPeer
(3:48:14 PM) jgreene: ccrouch: (which affects all queues/topics)
(3:50:16 PM) jgreene: ccrouch: so I think the only way to do this properly would be to have a global jms settings in the console
(3:51:03 PM) ccrouch: jgreene, that may be a possibility
(3:51:15 PM) ccrouch: you mean ServerPeer resource ?
(3:51:25 PM) ccrouch: or "JMS Server" resource
(3:52:31 PM) ccrouch: is that a one-to-one mapping could you potentially have multiple Server peers per JMS Server?
(3:52:47 PM) ccrouch: (3:47:23 PM) jgreene: ccrouch: right the only way to do this currently is to edit the message-service.xml descriptor
(3:52:56 PM) ccrouch: actually for CR1 this seems fine
(3:53:12 PM) ccrouch: "if you want messaging metrics, you have to turn them on"
(3:53:51 PM) ccrouch: jgreene: can you doc in 6720 what needs to be changed in the descriptor? so the QA team can update their tests?
(3:54:09 PM) jgreene: ccrouch: it's one-to-one, the ServerPeer is the root of messaging
(3:54:32 PM) ccrouch: jgreene: ok, well in the future we can look into have a managedobject for that
(3:54:47 PM) jgreene: ccrouch: yeah that sounds fine to just ask people to configure it on, since it adds overhead
