Downloading the lates snapshot I notice the JBOSS_BASE_DIR is checked for in standalone.sh but not actually used to set the jboss.server.base.dir property.

So in any init-script you still have to set -Djboss.server.base.dir=$JBOSS_BASE_DIR .

LOG_DIR and CONFIG_DIR works fine though, so thanks to whoever put them in :)
