There doesn't seem to be any thing posted on this message group relating to deadlock using Sybase Anywhere (ASA).  There is a post relating to sysbase EAS http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3864492 which is a different database.  
The create table parameter "LOCK DATAROWS" doesn't exist in Sybase Anywhere (ASA).
