[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Seam Application Scoped Objects, Serialization and Performan

I am wondering if Seam Application Scoped Objects 

@Scope(ScopeType.APPLICATION)

are serialized? If so, isn't there a performance issue if such an object is used very frequently?
