I'm having a similar problem in 2.6.0-CR1 though i do not get errors or a stack trace. I am able to create a new instance of the CMSPortlet but I'm unable to change it's preferences, specifically changing indexPage to another HTML page. I tried recommended approaches posted here to no avail. Any other suggestions?
