Not sure if I understand your question. Are you saying that you do not want to define a portlet window?  If so, you can provide a minimal *-object.xml file that contains only the following:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
  | <deployments>
  | </deployments>
