I have the same problem. I have a backing component and using a property from it.  When I switch to client side state saving method it works.

I'm using seam 1.2.1 GA/Jboss 4.0.5 GA/MyFaces 1.1.14. Is it a problem with myfaces version or seam? Any help is appreciated.
