I think you have a stray older log4j jar file somewhere, perhaps in the JDK's endorsed directory. I suspect this because the TRACE field was added to log4j only recently (can't recall in which version off-hand). You need to locate and remove that older log4j jar file. (Don't remove the log4j jar that comes with JBoss, that one is the correct one.)
