I'd be very concerned about what you've suggested you did for your solution.  My guess is that Log4J-Boot.jar that you've grabbed has been modified to be somewhat JBoss-specific and you may have broken whatever original plans you had for Log4J.  Try just upgrading your Log4J to the latest 1.2 release.  (at this time 1.2.15)
