what is your load test actually doing.

have a look at http://www.jboss.org/file-access/default/members/jbossmessaging/freezone/docs/userguide-1.4.0.SP3/html/configuration.html#conf.destination.queue.attributes.paging.
We page messages in/out of memory depending on these attribute settings, adjusting these could solve your problem!
