Please post the entire exception stacktrace. Since you mention you are using JBoss-5 CR2 with lifecycle methods in the @Management interface, i guess its related to https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/EJBTHREE-1430.

Since JBoss-5 GA has been released this week, i would recommend that you start using the GA version and see if it works there. If not, please post back with appropriate details.
