Question - Why JBoss-4.0.5 GA? :-) The latest stable version is JBoss-4.2.3 GA.
The first step to do after downloading JBoss is to set the JAVA_HOME to point to a valid JDK installation. Then from the %JBOSS_HOME%/bin folder run the appropriate script (run.bat for windows or run.sh for Unix)
