What do you mean by rollback tx?  How is this performed, and specifically what is the state of the tx (javax.transaction.Status) after step 4?

Also, which transaction manager do you use?

I wonder if either (or both of) JBCACHE-1468 or JBCACHE-1469 apply to your case.
