Indeed you seem to be having connection problems. I noticed this in the log:

!ENTRY org.eclipse.core.net 1 0 2009-06-16 12:00:44.290
!MESSAGE System property http.nonProxyHosts has been set to
local|*.local|169.254/16|*.169.254/16 by an external source. This value will be
overwritten using the values from the preferences


Can you verify that your proxies are configured correctly in Eclipse
preferences? Do other networking operations like CVS work when contacting
eclipse.org?
