but still it doesnt work.
whats about the "from" field? Must this address: nobody at myhost.domain.com  be a valid address ?
do i have to define a category, like :
<category name="org.jboss.portal">
  |   <priority value="ERROR" />
  |   <appender-ref ref="SMTP" />
  | </category>
