I've successfully verified both workarounds using jbossws-cxf-3.3.0.GA bin and src distribution, JBoss AS 5.1.0.GA and the "all" profile.

Did you provide the jboss.server.instance property for installing the src distro to a profile different from default?

ant -Djboss.server.instance=all deploy-jboss510
