I wouldn't expect a transaction failure on enabling the TRACE level logs for org.jboss.ejb3 package, unless ofcourse if the TRACE level logging generates logs to the extent that it timeouts the transaction. What transaction timeout have you set for your bean operations? By default it's 5 minutes.
