I found a reference to a test case that should exercise this functionality (IsolatedEARDeployermentUnitTestCase or IsolatedEARDeploymentUnitTestCase referenced here  http://community.jboss.org/message/227558#227561 http://community.jboss.org/message/227558#227561) but I don't see that test in any current distribution.  If anyone could redirect me, I would appreciated it much.  I also didn't realize that I was out of date with jboss but I have since tried this same code with 6.0.0.Final and EAP 5.1 and the stacks look practically identical.
