Removing the parent pom reference is no longer the solution. The next problem you hit is

[ERROR] Failed to execute goal on project prettyfaces-plugin: Could not resolve dependencies for project com.ocpsoft.forge:prettyfaces-plugin:jar:1.0.0.Alpha4: Failure to find org.eclipse.jgit:org.eclipse.jgit.pgm:jar:0.10.1
