You probably need to clone the repository using git instead of downloading the source code.. I'm pretty sure that you can also download the examples from sourceforge:  http://sourceforge.net/projects/jbpm/files/jBPM%205/jbpm-5.1.0.Final/ http://sourceforge.net/projects/jbpm/files/jBPM%205/jbpm-5.1.0.Final/
