Follow these steps and should be fine.</p><p>1.     Create your database schema called jbossportal</p><p>2.     Create you portal-mysql5-ds.xml file as follows:</p><p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"> </p><p><datasources><br/>  <local-tx-datasource><br/>    <jndi-name>PortalDS</jndi-name><br/>    <connection-url>jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/jbossportal?jbossportal?useServerPrepStmts=false&amp;jdbcCompliantTruncation=false</connection-url><br/>    <driver-class>com.mysql.jdbc.Driver</driver-class><br/>    <user-name>root</user-name><br/>    <password>root</password><br/>    <min-pool-size>5</min-pool-size><br/>    <max-pool-size>20</max-pool-size><br/>    <metadata><br/>      <type-mapping>MySQL</type-mapping><br/>    </metadata><br/>  </local-tx-datasource><br/></datasources></p><p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"> </p><p>3.     Make sure to copy your mysql-connector-java-5.1.8-bin.jar (or applicable the applicable version) file into you lib directory</p><p>4.     Start your portal server</p><p>5.     Deploy your jboss-portal.sar file into the /server/<portal>/deploy directory</p><p>6.     You will notice some exception messages and "table not found" errors during the deployment but do not worry about that</p><p>7.     After the server started successfully, stop and start it again and the portal server should start up without any errors</p><p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"> </p><p><span>You should now be able to access the portal </span><a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://localhost:8080/portal" target="_blank">http://localhost:8080/portal</a><span>. I am running portal 2.7.2 with jboss 4.2.3 and mysql 5.1</span></p></div>
