I'd like you to clarify this issue.  I just downloaded JBoss 4.2.3 and 
unzipped it and the server adapter started it properly. JMX is exposed 
properly from an unzipped downloaded 4.2.2. or 4.2.3 jboss installation.

How exactly are you finding situations where a default installation does 
not have JMX enabled / exposed?
