Not so great that neither this mail nor jira fail to mention that the two IU's being added are not trivial ones. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it is major new functionality and YAML is something to probably support - but let us please check what we add before pushing such changes to master! And we still have a lot of unresolved issues targeted for CR1: 185 issues in https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE I know it happens every time we are approaching a release. We just wait the next code freeze than move all unresolved issues to the next version. It really doesn't help to see the status of development. Having a clean JIRA which reflects reality is a very important thing for such a big team as ours. So please, give some love to *your component in JIRA* and move everything which is not blocker/critical for CR1/GA (and you are not sure if you have time to fix in next 3-4 weeks) out of 4.3.0 scope *now*. Don't wait for the code freeze or personal ping. *So, the CR1/Final JIRA should have only:* - blocker/critical issues - major/minor issues you are sure you will fix safely during next 3-4 weeks. If something is blocker/critical but you can't fix it before the code freeze, please *speak up now*! It notably fixes a regression introduced in 1.6.1 that broke the groovy configurator. See the changelog here [1]. It can be installed from [2]. 3rd party configurator providers are *strongly* encouraged to check 1.6.2 works for them. Unless new blocking issues are found for m2e 1.6.2.20150818-2354, it will most likely be released as-is next week. m2e 1.7.0 (1.7.0.20150818-2353) M1 for Neon includes all the fixes from 1.6.2 plus initial Java 9 support [3]. It can be installed from [4]. Java 9 beta support for Eclipse must be installed from the Marketplace[5]. Please note m2e 1.7.0 now requires JDK 8 minimum to run. Enjoy, Fred. Paul's agreed to simply pull the 1.6.2 bits into his TP directly (since he needs it for his Alpha release this week). He's already doing that w/ Graphiti 0.13, so it's no big whoop to do it for another almost-in-Mars.1 project, too. Anyway, the schedule for JBDS 9 says our 4.50.0.CR1 TP will be out on Sept 9. We can of course update it sooner / a few times, but less churn is better, unless you're worried that devs need to start using something from Mars.1 SOONER than 2 weeks from now? That was the missing link :) Good we found a way, but lets not make a habit of doing overrides in JBDS-IS TP. Another example where if we had a fully automated way of doing updates/builds we could react much faster and sane to these kind of things which no matter our good intentions will always pop up. /max > > --paull > > > ----- Original Message ----- >> From: "Max Rydahl Andersen" >> To: "Nick Boldt" >> Cc: "Paul Leacu" , "Fred Bricon" >> , "jbosstools-dev" >> >> Sent: Wednesday, August 19, 2015 4:58:44 PM >> Subject: Re: [jbosstools-dev] m2e 1.6.2 RC1 and m2e 1.7.0 M1 are >> available >> >> On 19 Aug 2015, at 17:34, Nick Boldt wrote: >> >>> Yes, but we won't be updating our 4.50.0.CR1-SNPASHOT tp for another >>> 2 >>> weeks, in order to collect more Mars.1 (previously called Mars SR1) >>> changes at the same time. >>> >>> Paul's agreed to simply pull the 1.6.2 bits into his TP directly >>> (since he needs it for his Alpha release this week). So far things have been running smoothly. I have recently uploaded an overview of the Design Proposal for my software solution to mojo so if anyone is interested in taking a look, perhaps providing some feedback/comments or ideas if you have any, it would be greatly appreciated. While the framework of the solution is in the works, concurrently while developing I will be looking at the specific content to include within the framework to ensure the user gets the help they need to get started, so any help or suggestions there would be infinitely helpful towards the project. The doc can be found at https://mojo.redhat.com/docs/DOC-1044102 Thanks, Blake. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michelle Murray" To: "jbosstools-dev" , jboss-devstudio-list at redhat.com Cc: "Blake McIvor" , "Ben Long" Sent: Thursday, August 6, 2015 3:51:43 PM Subject: CCS intern looking at JBoss Tools Hello, I recently proposed a project for an intern from a local Brisbane uni and Blake McIvor has taken up the challenge for the next 12 weeks. The project he is undertaking is about designing and implementing a 'Getting Started' (onboarding) experience for software. With JBDS and JBT still close to my heart, I have proposed that he use JBT as the software for which to design the onboarding experience. Once he has a design proposal, we'll be back to get some feedback from the JBDS/JBT team. He's signed up for the JBDS/JBT mailing lists and joined the irc channels so you will be seeing him about. I'll let Blake introduce himself: *My name is Blake McIvor, I'm a Software Engineering student from Griffith Uni, Nathan campus. I'm excited to be given the opportunity of a Red Hat internship and I look forward to working with everyone. I chose Red Hat because I have a strong interest in the open-source development philosophy and I believe an internship at Red Hat is a fantastic place to start. Outside of work I have a keen interest in music, you'll see me at a gig on the weekend if I have the time and of course I don't mind playing the odd game or two. I'd like to thank everyone I have met so far for the warm welcome and I look forward to meeting everyone else over my time here at Red Hat.* Any questions or concerns, please do get back to me. I'm due to start parental leave at the end of this week for the next 6 months. Ben Long, my colleague in CCS, will be taking over managing Blake and this project once I start my leave. I'm confident Blake can contribute something innovative and useful for JBT, Michelle From bfitzpat at redhat.com Wed Aug 26 18:05:06 2015 From: bfitzpat at redhat.com (Brian Fitzpatrick) Date: Wed, 26 Aug 2015 18:05:06 -0400 (EDT) Subject: [jbosstools-dev] User not able to leave comments in JIRA?
