My workflow is generally this:

1. click start progress so it appears in my "work in progress" query in JIRA
2. list the jobs and buildIDs on which I'm waiting -- eg., see https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-10401?focusedCommentId=12670418&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel#comment-12670418
3. when jobs complete, do the verification or respin if needed; update JIRA w/ more information re: status
4. resolve JIRA, removing it from the dev queue and placing it into QE's queue.
5. unless there's something that QE needs to do (or I'm too busy/lazy) I then also close the JIRA so it's out of QE's queue.
