After the code review I have moved the implementation of the new methods into VolatileStore and TwoPhaseVolatileStore and added a new property to the store configuration bean to control the behaviour. As expected the change has no effect on the benchmarks for the new stores: 

 -i 1 -wi 10 -f 1 -t 10 -r 100 # 10 warm up iterations and then a single iteration lasting 100 seconds using 1 thread
