Hey all,

I'm having trouble with the BRMS/workbench.  Making an existing project
accessible via the guided rule editor is more difficult than I imagined.  I
am getting nowhere.

Currently my rules are all in DRL files in my domain model, and my project
structure is:

EAR / WEB-APP / DOMAIN MODEL / ENTITY SERVICE / ENTITY FACADE / ENTITY MODEL 

So I need the classes in the domain model, entity facade and entity model
available to the BRMS.  They are available from SVN, or Maven, or as jars.

So I import these jars as Artifacts... and add them as dependencies using
'Add from Repository'

now I want to use the BRMS to allow users to edit rules.

How do I go about doing this?  I presume I need to set it up in the data
modeller, but my classes and packages don't show up in the drop down... ?

You just use the old classes when writing a 5.X application, and the new ones
when writing a 6.X app.

If your JAR imported without error (see the server log) and you've added
them as an import in the corresponding editor ("Config" tab) then they
should be available for authoring.

If your JAR classes are in the same package as the rules in the workbench
you can skip importing them.

If this is not working please raise a GUVNOR JIRA providing the exact steps
and JARs to replicate.

Previously we were using Drool 5.6.0.Final version and for dynamic rule
updation we configured KnowledgeAgent with changeset xml. This was working
like a charm, whenever we update our rules [.drl file] already existing
knowledgebase also gets updated.

*Issue:*
Now we updated to Drool 6.1.0.Final version and using KieScanner for dynamic
updation of rules [rules deployed as kjar]

When we deployed kjar with latest rules, In logs we see that KieScanner
picking newly deployed kjar.
*INFO  KieRepositoryImpl - KieModule was added:ZipKieModule[
ReleaseId=com.abc:kJar:4.0file=C:\Users\xxxx\.m2\repository\com\abc\kJar\4.0\kJar-4.0.jar]
INFO  KieScanner - The following artifacts have been updated:
{com.abc:kJar:3.0=com.abc:kJar:jar:4.0}*

*But my already exiting KieBase is not updated even after this.*

If I create new KieBase it picking new changes, is there any configuration I
missing for updating my exiting kiebase??

So the issue is that uploaded artifacts can't have certain dependencies, such
as log4j, or xstream.

Note highlighted text snippets. use them as is.  Caveat is , when you set-up
kbase with a release id and kiecontainer, default  beans created by spring
would be ignored. instead   container would create default kbase and a
ksession(s)(stateful,stateless) for you. those names should be included as
highlighted.

This is totally a workaround I found while debugging and yet to test if
scanner functionality is working properly.

Dear,

I come here to collect some information on these subjects.

I found that in 2008 a student of Mark Proktor (Gizil Oguz ) worked on a
machine learning using drools.

And currently Mark work on a Bayesian approach.

These subjects are really exciting.

Bayesian Belief Network needs to be able to put a probability value on
each event and for this using machine learning is a way to do.

So I would like to know how if they are somewhere a little example which
put all of these good projects in one?

After Gizil Oguz finished his work, we never heard about drools and
machine learning. I would like to know if that is normal ?
Or maybe using weka and drools is better ?

Thanks you everybody, any information on these subject could to be
interesting :-)

Hey Guys, I am trying to use to use the timer in the rule, but I don't
fully understand it.
I have a simple rule which says

rule "Test"

timer(int: 1s)
    when
       Something()
    then
       System.out.println("Something Happens");
end

And I insert 100 Someting() object, after 1 second I see 100 activations.
- Can I do with the timer something like "run this rule once per minute"
for example?
- When does the timer start to run?

Hi Demian,
As far as I remember you can use a CRON like expression in the timer
definition which will allow you to do that exactly.

Hi all,
I've a big rule file that contains *many* rules like this:

rule "rule1"
when
     $obj1: OBJ(a==false, b=="C")
     $obj2: OBJ(b=="B", a==false)
then
  <...>
end

Inspecting the RETE tree I've noticed that the first layer contains two 
alpha node, one for "a==false" and one for "b=="B", than the second 
layer contains the duplicate alpha node for "a==false" and one for 
"b==C". This is somewhat (at least for me) counter intuitive, because I 
thought the algorithm would  be a little bit smarter trying to order the 
clauses from the most restrictive to the least.
I there a particular reason why this optimization it's not implemented? 
It's difficult or semantically incorrect?

I've noticed this because compiling this file with many rules which have 
no particular order on clauses led to a tree with a extremely large 
first level. This obviously was detrimental but a simple ordering of the 
clauses fixed it.
This became a problem only when we upgraded form 5.0.1 to 6.1.0-Final. 
Why I didn't noticed any performance problem with the previous version 
of Drools?
