I'm calling Identity.instance().checkPermission("Node", "setAccessLevel", accessLevel); in one of my setter methods, it's bound to a JSF UI component.

The exception is silently swallowed in UPDATE MODEL VALUES and INVOKE APPLICATION continues. Either fix or document.
