I am using hot deployment and Groovy to enable script extension on my intranet application. Something like a simple modular system for non-programmers on top of Seam/Java application for data management.

Some issues you may have touched:

More customizable hot redeployment

Debug/development mode control

WEB-INF/dev should be processed even if not in debug mode

And the one I would really want:

Allow customization of WEB-INF/dev/ location

(and I suggest more than one directory configurable)
