Seam 2 provided the ui:decorate tag, which enhanced the composite template in Facelets by creating implicit variables to indicate whether the template contained required or invalid inputs. JSF 2 offers a much more advanced facility for supplementing a template-based component by allowing a real Java component to bind to a composite component. Use this facility to provide similar functionality to ui:decorate.
