re:
1)  I agree that "useCallingThread=false" has not had any affect I've noticed in the XA examples I'm using.  I've also been able to successfully run an example without the patch from TEID-1921, by simply using an embedded connection (not specifying the <host>:<port> in the *-ds.xml).

2)  Have you successfully tested this?
