Please try the snapshot at http://snapshots.jboss.org/maven2/org/jboss/webbeans/webbeans-ri-distribution/1.0.0-SNAPSHOT/webbeans-ri-distribution-1.0.0-SNAPSHOT.zip

David and I saw a similar problem to yours, which we fixed in the  
newer snapshots.
