<p>I don't see what the problem is with using a directly injected singleton. It is even advertised in <a href="http://docs.jboss.org/weld/reference/latest/en-US/pdf/weld-reference.pdf" class="external-link">http://docs.jboss.org/weld/reference/latest/en-US/pdf/weld-reference.pdf</a> section 5.4. and the CDI spec also states that singletons should be passivation capable dependencies.</p>

<p>Also I believe that in Weld SE there is no passivation support out of the box and, as we don't implement it, we therefor don't actually use passivation at all. Hence no managed object will ever be serialized by weld. We are just fighting against the implementation (or specification).</p></div>
