No there is no need to specify it, you can see the context path in the servers console. If you like you can attach you war and I can take a look and try to deploy it. Might be easier to spot the issue that way.

I am using jboss tools, with CDI project facets, so it is automatically
prompting for beans.xml and putting it in WEB-INF folder, so I don't think
that to be an issue.
