I removed the {} from the applicationID and from the masterSecret as well.

I wonder, why did you enter these {} around the credentials ? 
Probably because of this doc http://aerogear.org/docs/specs/aerogear-push-messages/ that shows the {}
It is at least the third time someone get hit by this  , I think we should remove it, it's confusing.
