Good morning and thanks for give it a try. We had this issue in the past, but not in nowadays, I'd like your help to reproduce this issue.
My attempt to reproduce your issue:
1. rm -rf ~/.m2/repository/* (this is not necessary, in my case was only to guarantee a clean environment for testing)
2. Removed my copy of jboss-as-7.1.1 and decompressed a new one (to guarantee a clean environment)
3. git clone git@github.com:aerogear/aerogear-controller-demo.git
4. cd aerogear-controller-demo && mvn clean package
5. Copied the war file to my JBoss
6. Tried to login with username: john password: 123 and followed the same steps described by you
The issue doesn't happen to me. I'm probably missing some step here.
