| No. No. GOD NO. Xamarin cross compiling bindings is a nightmare, has always been a nightmare, and will always be a nightmare. Trying to align the codebase so that iOS and Android use similar enough APIs that Xamarin can wrap and bind them is hard. Regression testing all 4 platforms (iOS, Android, XiOS, XAndroid) to make sure that minor changes (like a point release update of Google Play Services push) doesn't break things is harder. Making MSBuild work nice with it is hardest. We did it when AG push was added to Xamarin.old and I was ready to become a high school janitor when that experience was over. I can not, in any terms, overstate how bad of an idea this approach is. |
